Introductory Course


Philosophy has been a practical means to know oneself and improve one's life and the world. Philosophy has been the driving force behind many civilisations and great people of humanity. We present an updated version of traditional knowledge, a holistic form of education which, like classical humanism, links Sciences, Arts, Religions and Philosophies in a comparative way and tries to discover, through research, the laws governing Nature and the Human Being.


Part I (8 Weeks)

Timeless and Universal Philosophy
Philosophy: Love of wisdom. The value of philosophy for science, politics, religion and art. What is the nature of human being? The seven principles in nature and man. Macrocosm and Microcosm.

Philosophy of India
The Bhagavad Gita: The inner battle we all have. The teachings of karma, dharma, three gunas and reincarnation. The Philosophy of Yoga and the art of Right Action.

Socio-politics
Individual, society and state. The problems of modern societies.The concept of justice.

The Teachings of Plato
Philosophy in Ancient Greek. The art of politics. The teaching of Archetypes. The education of music and gymnastics. The myth of cave.

Wisdom of Rome
The School of Stoics. Practical teachings of Epictetus, Seneca and Marcus Aurelius. Harmony with Nature. The things within our control and out of our control.

Part II (8 Weeks)

Tibetan Wisdom
The Voice of Silence: Three stages on the inward journey: ignorance, learning and wisdom. Illusion and reality. The training of mind.

Plotinus
The Philosophical School of Alexandria. The nature of Soul. Organisation and contemplation. Why do we fall in love? The method of dialectic.

Buddhism
The life of Buddha. Four noble truths and the noble eightfold path. Is liberation from pain and suffering possible? Parables from Dhammapada.

Aristotle
The nature of happiness and goodness. To be apprentice of virtues. Metaphysics and Levels of Knowledge. Freedom and Slavery.

Philosophy of History
History: The teacher of Life. Man and Nature and their cycles and rhythms. History and Myth. Middle Age and Renaissance.

Exercises in Practical Psychology
